Microsoft made a few improvements to its Office Web Apps earlier this week, brining much of the functionality of the desktop version to the Web version. The free Office Web Apps provide the ability to create and edit Office documents stored online through Microsoft’s cloud-based SkyDrive service.
Excel users can now insert, delete and rename individual worksheets in a workbook, and also have access to the AutoSum feature and formula assistance to perform calculations. Microsoft is also enabling users to view the full array of functions by category including Commonly Used, Financial, Date & Time, and Statistical. PowerPoint users also received a new feature in Office Web Apps – the ability to switch between almost 50 visual themes on the fly.
