Many amateur photo editors are faced with uncertainty after Facebook’s announcement of monster-acquisition Instagram about a month ago, which leaves us asking – What are some other top photo-editing applications that are available on iOS devices?
Checkout these three alternatives:
Any Apple fan knows what iPhoto on the iMac is all about, but the real question is – is the application worth the $4.99 iTunes selling price? Well that all depends on what you are looking for in a photo editing application. iPhoto enables users to edit and share photos directly from their mobile device, just like Instagram. However, iPhoto offers more photo editing tools than Instagram, which is a good thing – unless you don’t know how to use them. Part of Instagram’s appeal is that it doesn’t require much thinking to use – simply crop a photo, pick a filter and share it. Although you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to use iPhoto, the app does have considerably more editing tools than Instagram, and therefore requires a little more photo-editing knowledge, or just time to play around with the app in order for users to discover the ideal look for their photos.
This is probably my favorite photo editing app. Not only is it easy to use, but it also has a lot of cool features and filters. Users can either upload and edit previously taken photos into the app or use the app to capture and edit photos. The Touch Exposure and Focus feature enables users to set the exposure separate from the focus, which offers more controls over shots. The Stabalizer feature also helps users obtain more steady and sharper photos, while the digital zoom enables users to get up to six times closer in their photos. The app is $0.99 to download, and comes with 27 free filters and offers 9 additional filters through in-app purchases.
This photo app is similar to Photobooth, however it also enables users to edit previously taken photos into the effects. The app comes with 44 effects that users can choose from, including everything from color-distorting filters to photos that can be stylized to look like paintings. This app is free and actually a lot of fun to play around with, however it might not be ideal for those who are looking for a true editing tool. So users should be aware that this app offers more photobooth-like features rather than photo filtering features.
