The company broke onto the scene over six months ago and rang up one million users in the past two months alone.
Waze offers free apps for IPhone, Android and WIndows Phone 7 – even Blackberry and a few other mobile platforms – that provide drivers turn-by-turn naviatgion. The data it collects is used to build out its own maps. Should there be a traffic issue (Gridlock!) then the information comes in through the apps and can be shared with other drivers.
While it will difficult for Waze to continue and grow in the face of Google’s dominance with respect to device navigation functionality, it remains a pretty valuable utility in the world of apps right now. Let’s see what the future holds for Waze.
