Most dog owners take their fuzzy friends for daily walks, but many do not know that these walks can add up to some serious cash for an animal organization of their choice.
The “Walk for a Dog” app, for instance, enables users to track their walking activity while also donating to a local animal organization. This is because the app donates based on the number of people who are actively walking for specific organizations. Upon signing up for the app, users can select the animal organization they want to walk for and can increase the amount donated to the organization by sharing the app with others. Plus, users can directly donate to organizations through the app.
According to the app’s developer, donations are sent out once or twice per year and are funded by sponsorships, advertising and investors. What’s more, the program donated more than $65,000 in 2014. It is also important to note that people without dogs can still leverage the app to donate via walking.
The app is free to download and available on both iOS and Android devices.
